Artist from Hildesheim asks for help from North Somerset

Esther Beutz, who is a photographer working on an arts project in Hildesheim, is looking for photographs. These pictures will be part of an exhibtion which can be seen in Hildesheim at the Arts Association in January 2005 and on these pages. All twin towns and regions of Hildesheim are asked to take part.

Her request: Please take a picture that shows the possible view the people of Hildesheim might have on North Somerset and its inhabitants. Which clichés/stereotypes might be on their minds? Do they only know the touristic sights or a special dish? Or do they reduce North Somerset and its inhabitants to a single characteristic?

Please also send a second photograph, which shows your personal view on North Somerset and which proves the other picture wrong. Show that North Somerset has got more to offer, show something suprising. The pictures might range from your personal point of view on a (touristic) sight to a photograph of your favourite dish. What makes your city special to you?

Anyone who wants to take part at the exhibition project should please send his two photographs (postcards are accepted as well) directely to the artist: Esther Beutz, Mendelssohnstrasse 6, D-30173 Hannover, Germany. The size of the pictures should be 10 by 15 cm, which is approximately 4 by 6 inches, the typical size of a postcard. Please do not forget to add your name, age and a short description of the photographs. The photographs can be send in until the 15th of January 2005s. The pictures can not be sent back and will become property of the artist, who is allowed to publish them whithin this project.

You can pass on these informations to other people in the twin towns of Hildesheim (Angoulême, El Mina, Gelendjik, Halle, Padang, Pavia, Weston-Super-Mare) as well. Thank you very much for your interest and participation!
